Join us for a festive day of makers and merriment! Our free Christmas Market is back again.
On Saturday November 23rd, we invite you to come in from the cold and meet the incredibly talented makers and creators.
The atmospheric Old Squash Court will host a variety of visiting makers. From finding a new favourite mug for hot chocolate from Redbraes Pottery to picking up your Christmas cards celebrating winter minimalism from artist Claire Beattie to heartwarming illustrations from Sara Rhys. there will be a wide variety of handcrafted and unique creations to take home with you.
Makers will also be happy to have fun and friendly chats about their work. Sam and Rich from The Marchmont Workshop will be demonstrating how they carefully craft their traditional furniture and will also offer the chance for visitors to try weaving a rush seat for themselves.
Also make sure to pop into the Common Room where we will be having a drop-in wreath making workshop as well as Christmas carols and mulled wine. Laura will lead you through the steps to make a special evergreen wreath to add to the festive spirit in your own home.
We'll also be joined by the wonderful people from Hame Bakes who will be selling delicious traybakes and hot drinks for a sweet pick me up.
Entry to the event is completely free to all! However, if you choose to donate £5 to the Hugo Burge Foundation, you will be entered into a raffle to win a traditionally crafted chair by The Marchmont Workshop. This chair is a special opportunity to own a piece of furniture made using techniques, tools, and patterns passed down through six generations of master and apprenticeship starting in 1890.
We hope to see you there!
Gifts of time and love are surely the basic ingredients of a truly merry Christmas
